July Adoration: God in the heart of Christ

-God, come to my aid

- Lord, make haste to help me.

- Glory to the Father...

- As it was in the beginning... Alleluia

To speak of God we must do so from the suffering of the world and from personal experience of God's love. This is the reconciling path that God adopts in Jesus through the Incarnation. The Incarnation is the truth about God, who not only energizes the universe for its development, but mercifully chooses to take on a human face. In Jesus, our human nature is personally and totally united to God in a real way, taking responsibility for the suffering and violence of the world.

In the Heart of Jesus we see symbolized a world wounded and yet loved by God, the anguish of suffering humanity and God's compassion for humanity. Here is the whole truth of our humanity and our hope.

Hymn

O pierced Heart of Jesus, refuge come down from heaven,

in which we find salvation and

the remedy for our weakness.

You assumed our suffering condition,

let us respond with our love,

immerse our hearts in yours to be with you forever.

When our days are finished, O Jesus,

may we rest in your side,

receive our last breath and

may we find our eternal dwelling in you.

Canticle: Phil 2:5-11

This hymn traces, in a gigantic downward and ascending curve, the itinerary of Jesus the Messiah: from heaven he descends to earth; stripped from the honor and power of his divine condition, he assumes our limited condition; he accepts in obedience the power of death upon himself: and he is exalted as Lord of the universe and of history: and he receives the homage of the universe to the glory of God the Father.

Christ Jesus, Who, though he was in the form of God,

did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.

Rather, he emptied himself,

taking the form of a slave,

coming in human likeness;

and found human in appearance,

he humbled himself,

becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.

Because of this, God greatly exalted him

and bestowed on him the name

that is above every name,

that at the name of Jesus

every knee should bend,

of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

and every tongue confess that

Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God, the Father.

Phil 2: 5-11

Silence for adoration

Read the Canticle slowly and admire the path that God adopts in Jesus to save you.

Word of God: Heb 4, 15-16

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin. So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help.”

Silence for reflection

When you see the sufferings and weaknesses of people, do you take them as your own? Do you think this is a direct way to meet God?

Have you ever thought that what God expects of you is not strength, power, but your weakness and your love?

Petitions

·         You who were exalted on the cross and pierced by the soldier's spear, heal our wounds.

·         You, who being God became human to save us, teach us to love our neighbor.

·         You who were the contempt and shame of the people, make us not cower when they insult us for being your followers.

·         You who, being lifted up on the cross, raised all people to yourself gather into your kingdom all the children of God scattered throughout the world.

Our Father

Prayer

Look at us, Lord of goodness, and grant that we may make our own the sentiments of the Heart of your Son, who in order to fulfill your plan of salvation gave himself up to death on the cross. Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen
