Through the Heart of Christ to the mystery of God
In the wounded Heart of Christ, the heart of our wounded condition and the center of reality, we contemplate God who is Love and, being love, there must necessarily exist in him relationship. This is what we affirm of divinity as "Unity in a Trinity of Persons" in communion of intimate knowledge and in loving and liberating relationship, whose only bond is the total gift of a reverent self-giving love. In Jesus we see the Word who expresses in his humanity the hidden mystery of God. In his wounded heart we glimpse something of the sorrow of the One who loves us so much and who is the source and summit of all created beings, whom Jesus loves as his Father. And this God offers himself to us as our most intimate Spirit, who dwells in our hearts so that we may have a life fully open to the power and wisdom of love.
- My God, come to my aid.
- Lord, make haste to help me.
- Glory to the Father...
- As it was in the beginning... Alleluia
HYMN
O Heart, victim of love,
eternal joy of heaven,
the consolation of mortals and
their last hope.
Glory to the Triune God!
The Word of God united with you,
the Spirit made his dwelling and
the Father found his joy.
Joy of heavenly beings,
refuge of humans,
O Sacred Heart,
we adore you.
Silence for adoration
Canticle: Ez. 36:24-28
The people have broken their relationship with God and live dispersed among the nations. The Lord will establish a new covenant with them. He will change their hearts creating a new relationship with Him and with each other. In Jesus, God will establish "the new and definitive covenant: the era of the Spirit.
I will take you away from among the nations, gather you from all the lands, and bring you back to your own soil. I will sprinkle clean water over you to make you clean; from all your impurities and from all your idols I will cleanse you. I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you.
I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my spirit within you so that you walk in my statutes, observe my ordinances, and keep them. You will live in the land I gave to your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.
Silence for Meditation
In the midst of our history of sin, God acts and makes our history his history of love. Can you say that your own life, in spite of everything, is a history of God's love for you? Formulate a little phrase of thanksgiving and repeat it many times.
Reading of the Word: Jn 14:15-17
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you.
Silence for Reflection
Our keeping of the commandments shows us if our relationship with the Father, with Christ, is realized in the Spirit of truth.
